An Intimate Backyard Wedding at a Historical Home in Central Kentucky

Every wedding I'm trusted to capture is special to me, I feel like every time I write a blog post I'm repeating how much I enjoyed the couple, the venue, the day. I repeat it because it's true, I love my job, and I love all of my couples. But... this couple is a bit different, they do hold a spot a little closer to my heart. Courtney, the bride, is the daughter of some great friends of mine, and Corey is just an all around great guy that jumped right in and became 'daddy' to Courtney's little girl, Danielle. I've known this couple, I've rooted for this couple, I've prayed for this couple... they were my first engagement session when I started my business, these two mean a lot to me.

The wedding was held at Corey's parent's home, a historic property with ties to the civil war. It was a beautiful venue; exposed brick in the bedrooms, soft natural light and full of character. The ladies got ready upstairs and the gentleman downstairs, it worked out perfectly.

Courtney had requested some photos of Danielle in her wedding gown and I was more than happy to capture that for her. It's not every day that one of my brides has a little princess there with her, it was too sweet of an opportunity to pass up. The resulting images make me tear up every time I think about it.

There wasn't going to be a 'first look' for the bride and groom; but we more than made up for it with sentimental moments with the ladies and her stepdad. Tears... again. Father first looks get me every time.

The ceremony was sweet and personal with a close family friend as the officiant, he kept the mood light but full of love and sentiment as he had them repeat their vows. It was absolutely perfect. The day was hot, very hot... so after the wedding we rushed through some family formals and captured a few portraits of the bride and groom before everyone melted.

The wedding was beautiful and sweet and meaningful, and I am so honored to have been a part of it. Congratulations to Courtney and Corey! I wish you both every happiness in the world.
